As seen in Wirecutter, “The Magic AC Mount is a newer bracket that takes an unconventional design approach—it attaches directly to the upper “lip” or flange of the air conditioner, instead of sitting underneath the unit on the outside of your house, and attaches to the inside jamb or wall around the window frame. This leaves you free to open and adjust the window above the AC without losing any stability. The Magic AC Mount doesn’t require any tools or hole-drilling either (though you certainly can drill into the window jamb for added security). It may also be the only bracket we’ve found that actually complies to the notoriously opaque NYC Local Law 11, too. We’ve been testing the Magic AC Mount for two summers now, and have been impressed with both its stability, and the slight design improvements that we’ve seen across the years.
